Knowing how to contour and highlight is MAJOR. A highlight is going to bring out a feature and contouring with a darker shade is going to push it in. Makeup is all smoke and mirrors!! Anyone can have a strong jawline and beautiful high cheekbones! The picture below shows some really great highlight and contour points. Keep a look out for a follow up post where I'll go into more detail.
